Cultural activites

All-inclusive Chinese Language School

Here you will be in safe hands, Yangshuo is an excellent place to live and study Chinese. With many local and international cuisines, variety of accommodation and many activities to explore and immerse yourself in!

We offer a variety of different rooms for you to choose from, all our options are spacious, clean rooms, 2-10 minute walk, air conditioning, heating, internet access and fully furnished!

We serve authentic Chinese meals in the canteen on campus from Monday to Friday. This is convenient and there is a large variety of food. Alternatively Western cuisine readily available in Yangshuo!

We offer many different student activities to cultivate an exciting student life and immerse you in the Chinese culture while you study with us. From Cultural classes on Wednesday to Saturday outings.

Accommodation options

Omeida Language School offers spacious, clean rooms at a subsidised rate to our students. All of our rooms are a 2-10 minute walk to Omeida Language School. All of our rooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating, internet access, a desk and chair. You also have your own en-suite bathroom including a toilet, a shower and your own hot water tank for 24 hour hot water service. You will also have free access to a washing machine.

 

Shared twin dorm with ensuite bathroom

The twin dorm bedrooms are to be shared with a student from China, which will greatly benefit your Chinese language progress, while practicing in daily life what you've learned in class. And as mentioned above, all rooms include air conditioning, heating, internet access and a desk. You also have your own ensuite bathroom including a toilet, a shower and your own hot water tank for 24 hour hot water service. You will also have free access to a washing machine. There is a small extra charge for the electricity that you use during your stay with us. This will usually be between RMB 50 and RMB 150 per month per person depending on season and usage, in particular how often the air conditioner and shower heaters are used. If you are sharing your room, this price is divided by both occupants.

Private dorm rooms with ensuite bathroom

For an additional 100RMB per week, Omeida Chinese Academy can provide a fully furnished single room with a private bathroom to ensure you have an enjoyable stay in Yangshuo. These rooms can either have twin beds or double beds and is depending on availability and is for single occupancy.

As with the shared accommodation, please note that there is an additional charge for electricity. This is usually be between RMB 50 and RMB 150 per month, depending on season and usage, in particular how often the air conditioner and shower heaters are used.

Luxury private dorm rooms with ensuite bathroom

For an additional 250RMB per week, Omeida Chinese Academy can provide a more comfortable and larger room with an ensuite bathroom. The building is only 2 minutes walk from school. It has similar facilities to the above accommodation options but all private rooms have western toilets.

As with other accommodation options, please note that there is an additional charge for electricity. In this building the shower heater is powered by air energy so it saves electricity. This is usually be between RMB 50 and RMB 100 per month, depending on season and usage, in particular how much the air conditioner is used.

Hotel private room

For an additional 450MB per week, Omeida Chinese Academy can provide a single room with a private bathroom at nearby hotel, to ensure you enjoy a high-quality hotel service during your stay. Rooms are available all year round but please be aware that they cost more during public holidays, especially the National Day (first week of October), Chinese Spring Festival (usually in late January or early February), and summer (July and August). Please ask us for further details. As with other accommodation options, please note that there is an additional charge for electricity. This is usually be between RMB 50 and RMB 150 per month, depending on season and usage, in particular how much the air conditioner and shower heater are used.

On Campus: "The Canteen"

The school canteen is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Friday, providing the school with traditional, family-style Chinese meals (dine-in or takeaway).

For our all-inclusive students and volunteers, all meals at the canteen are included and tuition-only students are charged 12 RMB (approximately $1.8 USD) per meal.

These meals typically consist of soup or porridge, rice, and a shifting variety of meat, vegetable, egg, and tofu dishes. 

The canteen serves lunch at noon and dinner at 6 pm.

 
 

 

Off-Campus

Students are responsible for their own breakfast as well as all meals on weekends.  The town of Yangshuo provides students with many nearby restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, and street-food at all times of the day.  Just outside of Omeida's campus, there is a very wide variety of traditional Chinese food that is all served at a very affordable cost.

Just a 15 minute walk away from Omeida is also the famous "West Street" which will satisfy just about every foreign appetite.  West Street has a very high concentration of western-style restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, so if you're looking for a burger, pizza, pasta, steak, fries, a fresh cup of coffee,  or just about anything else you can think of, it's probably going to be somewhere on West Street.

 
 

 

Student Activities

The students the come and study at Omeida always say it is like being on an educational holiday! We boast with one of the most beautiful environments in the entire China! Immerse yourself in the culture and come and enjoy the variety of activities we organize! We also offer a cozy lounge for a rainy day to watch some movies!

Cultural Activities

Every two weeks, there is also a free cultural activity on a Wednesday afternoon, after class for you to learn about traditional Chinese practices. The cultural activities include classes for Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Cooking, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, the art of tea-making, and paper cutting.

These classes provide you with an excellent opportunity to practice your Chinese language skills in real-life situations and learn more about China.

Sports Activities

Daily after school out-door sports activities include Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Foosball and even Tug of war sometimes. We sometimes have team challenges where you can show us your skills. Do not forget you are in the most attractive environment in well, China! So you will really make the most of the blue skies and great weather in summer. So you can rent a bicycle and ride to the Yu-Long river side to explore the beautiful scenery. If you are adventurous you can hike up a mountain to see the sun set.

Saturday Outings

Often on Saturdays, we organize day-long outings that students are welcome to attend.

This typically will be either a sightseeing tour into the surrounding countryside and nearby villages or activities such as bike riding, caving, rafting, or hiking.

There is a small charge (usually between RMB20-300 including transportation, tickets, or accommodation if applicable) for the weekend excursion.

Student Lounge

We provide a comfortable environment on campus. Omeida is your home away from home. The student lounge is a communal area for students to talk with language partners and to watch movies in the evenings after class or on weekends. Students are welcome to use the area to do their homework as well.

Social Nights

Every Thursday night we have our "social night." It is free for students to attend and includes activities such as BBQs, cocktail nights, competitions, and games. Food and drinks are provided. The social night is a great way to make new friends and practice your Mandarin!

Class Dinners

Once a month, we organise a class dinner for all the students to experience a huge Chinese buffet together. We try a new traditional Chinese restaurant every month to experience the cuisine and talk about the delicious food. We also go dutch on the bill so it allows everyone to try something of everything!
